Curl Me Baby!

I've got to break down and admit it... Yup. I've been watching the Olympics.

Ok... not really a shocker, I know... but here's something you might not know. I love watching the Curling matches. A lot of people think it's boring, but I truly appreciate the many aspects of it.

The strategy, the skill it takes to consistently throw the stone where you want it. It's just a game that looks incredibly simple when you watch the best, but I know it's a helluva tough game.

Of course it doesn't hurt that there's a bunch of lovely ladies yelling out "HARD HARD HARD easy easy HARD HARD!!!"

Well... that and I find the female Canadian Skip to be quite attractive too. Hmmmm... perhaps I'd better get ahold of Nicola up in Calgary again. Maybe she can hook me up... ewink

Today's mystery lyric: (Remember the rules folks, no online searching of the lyrics, if you don't know it, you don't have the answer!)

And I find it kind of funny
and I find it kind of sad
that the dreams in which I'm dying
are the best I've ever had

Answer to last lyric: The Rodeo Song. I shouldn't give this to her, but... Way to go Tiff!

I find Curling oddly fascinating. The girls don't do anything for me, but PDM went all googly-eyed for them.

Curling reminds me of this post from way back on FMD. It was a caption for this image...

Hello, and welcome back to ESPN2's coverage of the Nextel Sheep Shuffle Board Championships. I'm Al Michaels, and with me is former World SSB Champion Jimmy Chapman.

That's right, Al, and what a game this is. We have eight of the world's finest, competing for the chance to win it all. And I'll tell you what, these guys are just as good if not better than the guys I faced when I took home the Golden Fleece in '72. They work hard, they become one with the sheep, and they are able to glide them onto that bullseye. These guys are amazing athletes.

I couldn't agree more. Now let's get back to the action on the court. US's Robert Gibson has a slight lead over Italy's Antonio Reggina, with their sheep, number's 3 and 2 respectively, coming closest to the innermost circle. Next up is Russia's Mikhail Romanov. And if he can get his sheep into the center, he bumps Gibson out of the top spot, extending Russia's winning streak to 18 consecutive years.

Romanov is a tremendous athlete, but there has been some speculation that he's been using controlled substances to enhance his game.

Let's hope speculation is all it is, Jimmy. It would be a shame for something like that to taint the image of the sport of Sheep Shuffle Board. Romanov steps up, he shoots, and it...sails past the bullseye out of bounds! Do you believe in miracles? The US wins! The US wins! Gibson is the new world Champion!
