Ouch...
I had a post all ready to go in my mind, but...
Well... today I had to get a cow and calf in because the calf wasn't nursing the cow and she had huge tits that were a bit chapped to boot. I'd fed the calf with a bottle a couple of times hoping she'd figure it all out, but no...
So I get the cow into the corral and hauled her up to the folks' place to get her in the chute and milk her out and hopefully get the calf to nurse her out. Then I'd let her free from the chute and that would be that...
We get her in the chute, put a good coating of Bag Balm (think of it as Carmex for udders) on her tits to stop the chapping, and I just get the calf started drinking when...
Now we have a Powder River chute, and it's necessary for what we do... but it has a MAJOR design flaw, that's going to get someone killed... and today, that was almost me.
While I was trying to get the calf "primed" to nurse her with a bottle, the catch on the side door of the chute failed and the cow walked free...
This wouldn't have been a problem, except that we hadn't set the gates up right, so she was really free... to walk around and do as she pleased. Not something good...
So I chummed her into the barn by leading the calf behind me with the bottle... Once we got into the barn, where there was no escape... the rotten bitch took to me and crushed me against side of the barn with her head... no warning, no nothin'... just mashed me out of nowhere...
I went and got a good solid club when I got free and talked her out of any more such nonsense... then we had to tie her head up so that I could get the calf around and actually nurse her out. As a result... I'm a bit sore right now and not up to typing my original post...
All because of a flawed design on a chute. Had it worked right, no problems what so ever... so now I've got to become the engineer and come up with a design to fix the flaw.
I can hardly wait for tomorrow...

Today's mystery lyric: (Remember the rules folks, no online searching of the lyrics, if you don't know it, you don't have the answer!)
On a cold winter morning in a time before the light
In flames of death's eternal reign we ride towards the fight
When the darkness has fallen down and times are tough alright
The sound of evil laughter falls around the world tonight
Answer to last lyric: Still Lovin You by Scorpions...

I'm sure it was horrible and that the cow is now very sorry for any and all wrongdoings. Glad you're OK!
It was just another day... makes you mad though when you're trying to help and they try to kill you...
As for her learning? Not so much...
