How High's the Water Mama?

Thanks for your concerns, but alas... I'm still alive, just been busy. Sorry if that wrecks any pools that you've participated in, but...

Yes... the last 3 weeks have been spent pokin' cows, and unfortunately, that's not a euphemism for anything else. No... it merely means that I've spent my time gathering and sorting up cattle. We finally got finished yesterday. It's been a long siege, but today... I took the day off.

So what was I greeted with when I arose? Wind. Light. And... snow. Yes, snow. There was about 2 or 3 inches when I got up and its been snowing all day. Steady. Small flakes, but even small flakes accumulate.

Tomorrow's forecast? Snow all night and most of tomorrow too. Damn... this is the best accumulation of snow that we've had all year! I just wisht it wouldn't have come in October.

The answer to the question posed in the title is... 13" and rising.

****************************

Today's mystery lyric: (Remember the rules folks, no online searching of the lyrics, if you don't know it, you don't have the answer!)

Moonlight in the city brings the magic to your eyes
Freezin' a moment - leave me paralyzed
Breathe an emotion - set it dancin' in my ear
Bring on the rhythm when I hold you near

Answer to last lyric: Twilight Zone by Golden Earring.

Dude, you listen to the weirdest music. Of course... so do I.

Pokin' cows... heh heh.

Snow isn't so bad. I can't wait for it to snow here, but that won't be until January at the earliest (please, snow gods, prove me wrong!) Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go look at an apartment.

fermi - it was still spittin' a bit this morning, but has stopped now, and the sun is shining and things are melting off.

When I went out this morning with my yardstick... it measured 16.5" just out my back door. But it's DEEP! I had to do the running lunge step to get to my pickup this morning. So we feared the worst, and put some hay on to feed the minions. We got down the road a couple of miles and there was only about 4 inches, and the further south we went, the less snow. Turns out the minions didn't need any hay.

Cthee -- Weird music? Golden Earring isn't weird... c'mon... Twilight Zone? Radar Love? Not even close to being weird. Just mainstream 80's.

And you're just going to look at an apartment? Now that's weird...

Ah, the vagaries of snowfall. I remember that from New England. But I don't remember ever having to dig my car out in October...

According to the news, Montana got buried too. You can keep it out that way. Im not ready for it here.

Your lyrics are very easy this week. ;o)

Shall I name it or should I let someone else take a stab at it. ;o)

Snow? We haven't even peaked with our fall foliage yet. (Should sometime this week.) It was in the 70s on Friday!

I'm not looking forward to the snow. I hate digging out my car in the mornings.

I once was at a Kenny Chesney concert and he was wearing a Billy Squier shirt. I don't know why, but that just cracked me up.

No snow here yet. Rain is finally gone, so now it's just 30 degree temps and wind.

The THings are out in Yellowstone, and finally ditched the RV 9well, their dad did) in Jackson Hole because apparently driving an RV through blizzards is hard work.

In October. Sheesh.

JennyLu - sounds like you need to frequent different blogs...

bc - Ayup... Accuweather said Red Lodge had 42 inches!

P - Sure... rub it in. I'll be sure to return the favor this winter... ;)

Beth - You know... I think I thought a very similar thought. Of course there's a difference between snow and FREAKIN' SNOW! We've still got a lot, but the last few days have seen a lot of melting...

Tink - Riiiiiiiiiiight... sure you did. :ewink:

Tiff - Jellystone? Hmmmm. Well... if'n you ever make that journey, let me know and I'll drive up there and treat you to a billy burger.

SNOW! NO NO NO - Not ready for any snow! But we usually don't get that much snow anyway. I heard that the rain we hare having here left 30 inches of snow in some of the Mountains in Montana and Colorado.

Good thing you got all the cows poked before the snow started. I'm betting it's harder in the snow.

Melted yet? We're having a "cold snap" - it is in the 60s rather than the 80s today.

Kathy - Yup... same storm.

Knight - Not necessarily harder. When it comes to pokin, where there's a will, there's a way, but it does add some challenges.

fermi - There's a few patches here and there still left, but alas today it was mid 70's. Perfect weather actually.

Glad you made it back from the “..Flip Side”! Too bad it didn’t snow a tad sooner…could have saved you some time! in the Cascades & MT…snow would drive the herds towards home on their own, ya know out of habit as they don’t forget where the food sources are.
(Try snow in Aug like we had in ’92 in MT!)
Glad to see ya postin’ again LL. Are you planning on Monthly Posts now instead of bi-weekly ;)
