Murphy Nails It Again
Has it been a week already? Wow. You'd think I had a life or something...
A month or so ago, my computer started to do strange things. My monitor wouldn't stay on consistantly. It would blink on, blink off, click on, off, onoff, off... quite frustrating. But then I came to realize, the ol' dinosaur has been around for quite a while. Probably 6 or 7 years now, and that's quite a while in computer years.
At first, I just thought it was my video card that was dying, so my bro and I headed to town and bought a different one. Didn't help. Tried something else, didn't work. In fact, we exhausted both of our repetoirs, and something actually worked. I don't exactly know what, but it worked... kinda. It worked for a little while.
Now it's happened a half a dozen times since, and I took the hint. I had my bro go ahead and order me a new one. He's a paid computer nerd, so he got me a "rocket ship". He ordered it last Monday, and Friday afternoon, it was ready. Yesterday, I had a brief respite and decided it was the only day in the forseeable future to go get it. Here's the main problem. My bro lives in Boise which is about a 3 hour drive one way. That makes the round trip something I don't exactly look forward to, and it pretty much sucks the life out of a whole day. That said, I've got some important things that I've got to have done in the near future, so I can't afford to be without a working computer, so I woke up early and headed out.
I got into Boise at about 10:30 - 11:00 that morning and picked my bro up. He'd called earlier that morning and gotten the computer store's voice mail that said their Saturday hours were 10:00 to 4:00, so we headed down to check out the new delivery. 200 Gig hard drive, dual core processor, 2 Gig of ram, DVD burner, smokin video card, twin front USB2 ports... everything a young man could want.
We turn into the parking lot, find a good parking spot, and then we're visiting as we head up to the door, grab the handle, pull... erm... pull... erm... locked? Erm... que?
A few posts back, if you'll recall, I was feeling blue and mentioned that it was a tough year. The Kabs told me this was my 4 year and it wasn't going to be pretty. Attention to detail is the key for me this year, because anything that can go wrong will.
"They're supposed to be open from 10:00 to 4:00 today. That's what their voicemail said." my bro says.
"Ummm... well this sign right here says they're open Monday through Friday and closed on Saturday and Sunday." I reply.
He was mad, I took it in stride. Par for the year. No sense in worrying about it when there's nothing we can do. We ran an errand, and headed back to his house. All he had was the store's number so there was no calling the guy at home and working something out. I was just out.
Oh well. We headed out, grabbed a bite to eat and then I loaded up and headed back here. But it wasn't a total waste... I did stop in Twin and hit the grocery store, something I hadn't done for a few months. I was pretty well down to bare cupboards. But kee-rap! $175 for a few basic necessities? Ok... maybe the cracker jacks aren't exactly necessities, but hey... a guy's got to live once in a while, doesn't he?

Today's Mystery Lyric:
You float like a feather
in a beautiful world
I wish I was special
you're so very special...

So when will you be able to go get it? Or maybe a nice visit from him and his family?
But a very cool new toy.
Wow, that stinks! I would have been mad as heck.
Mystery lyric - Creep????
I think I would be more then mad as heck.
Is Creep your theme song, LL? Not saying it should be.... *whistles innocently*
I dunno when I'll get it. I thought maybe this week, but then another friend died unexpectedly last night, so the week is once again in flux.
Very good Miss Sunshine, Creep it is.
"Is Creep your theme song, LL?"
Hmmm... I'm only allowed one theme song at a time, but should I ever become a nice guy again, I'll definately think about it. :P
OH! Welcome to the End of the World Sunshine!
A. Porn isn't THAT important.
B. 3 hrs one way is not a long trip. It's a short jaunt to anywhere.
C. My fortune cookie last weekend said I should stay away from rats. I think that applies whether it's a 4 year or not. Guess I can't come back here. :P
"A. Porn isn't THAT important."
Speak for yourself...

Any trip to Boise is a long trip. Whether it's 5 minutes or 3 hours.
"C. My fortune cookie last weekend said I should stay away from rats. I think that applies whether it's a 4 year or not. Guess I can't come back here."
Are you sure they weren't talking about something on the menu?
I would have been TICKED! I quite liked Boise the few days I was there oh so very long ago, but I don't think that really helps you deal with a store that doesn't understand the need of keeping their voicemail updated.
